Description:  The serpentine layer is located between the 6th layer of the medulla in the outer medulla and the 8th layer of the medulla in the inner medulla. The SPL therefore is equivalent to the 7th layer of the medulla. It has only few synapses, and is the exit layer of the Cuccati's bundle.
