Description:  Neuropils included in the ''central complex'' may differ by nomenclature systems. In Strausfeld's definition, it includes central body, ventral body, isthmus, protocerebral bridge, inferior bridge and buttress (fan shaped body, ellipsoid body and noduli are included in the central body). In Otsuna's definition, only following neuropils are assigned as components of the central complex; fan shaped body, ellipsoid body, noduli and protocerebral bridge.
