The serpentine layer is located between the
6th layer of the medulla
in the
outer medulla
and the
8th layer of the medulla
in the
inner medulla
. The SPL therefore is equivalent to the 7th layer of the
medulla
. It has only few synapses, and is the exit layer of the Cuccati's bundle.
